Focus Report

This report examines the economic value of environmental protection in Oman and the role of environmental governance in supporting resilience, competitiveness and sustainable growth.

The publication, produced in partnership with the sultanate’s Environment Authority (EA), explores how environmental stewardship intersects with infrastructure planning, resource management, investment and diversification priorities under Oman Vision 2040. It assesses the economic implications of environmental degradation, climate-related pressure and resource stress, while evaluating the contribution of regulatory frameworks, monitoring systems and cross-government coordination to long-term economic stability.

The report also analyses how environmental standards are being implemented across sectors including water, waste management, logistics and energy, with case studies highlighting operational efficiency, resource sustainability and emerging low-carbon opportunities. In addition, the publication examines Oman’s growing international environmental engagement, including its presidency of the seventh session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-7).
