Focus Report

The global energy transition is reshaping how hydrocarbons are produced, managed and assessed, placing greater emphasis on emissions intensity, operational efficiency and governance alongside energy security. For resource-rich economies such as Oman, this presents an opportunity to strengthen competitiveness while advancing national sustainability objectives.

This report, produced in partnership with Petroleum Development Oman, examines how the sultanate is aligning its energy sector with Oman Vision 2040 and its net-zero ambitions through operational transformation, digitalisation, emissions management and institutional coordination. It explores the policies, technologies and partnerships supporting lower-carbon hydrocarbons production, renewable energy deployment and economic diversification, while highlighting the role of international standards in enhancing transparency and resilience.

The publication also evaluates how coordinated action across government and industry is reinforcing long-term competitiveness and positioning Oman to respond to evolving global energy market expectations.
