Third Party Event

23 Jan 2018 - 24 Jan 2018

The 2018 edition of MERTC will be held at the Ritz Carlton, Manama, Bahrain, from January 23 to 24.

Now in its second year, the pioneering regional refining and petrochemical conference will bring leaders and engineers from Bapco, KNPC, Sabic and Aramco together with the best technologies and the brightest minds.

MERTC 2018 will provide a platform for industry players to explore ways in which the region can strengthen its commercial, operational and technical capabilities against a backdrop of new challenges. Topical issues on the agenda include electrification, the International Maritime Organisation and the transition from ‘volume to value’.

Already established as a key meeting place for downstream technology and innovation, MERTC will once again make use of the World Refining Association’s 20 years of industry experience to build on a successful inaugural event which attracted 248 industry stakeholders from 71 companies and 20 countries.

MERTC 2018 will set out to facilitate meaningful business conversations by hosting 120 one-to-one meetings between sponsors and stakeholders.

New features for the forthcoming edition include a series of quickfire polls, to be held in the conference’s “Pulse” sessions, aimed at obtaining the industry’s sentiments on topical issues, and a programme specifically designed to reward the rising stars of the industry. The event will also feature several interactive panels, including one that will see three generations – Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y – discuss and debate what the future holds for the downstream industry.

Oxford Business Group will be a partner for the conference, which will be held
once again under the patronage of HE Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, minister of oil, Kingdom of Bahrain, and with the support of an esteemed advisory board including: Dawood Nassif, board director, Bapco; Mutlaq Al-Azmi, Deputy CEO, KNPC; and Bashir Dabbousi, director of technology strategy and planning, Saudi Aramco.

The Advisory Board has graded the papers submitted ahead of the conference to ensure that attendees are presented with the technologies positioned at the forefront of the industry and the latest, quality content.
