The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Confederation of Moroccan Employers, among others, are organising the UK-Morocco Business Dialogue on 21 January 2020 at 8:30 am at the Dorchester Hotel in London. This will take place one day after the UK-Africa Investment Summit.

The UK-Morocco Business Dialogue aims to present trade and investment opportunities in Morocco, forging ties between British and Moroccan corporations and materialising business opportunities between companies from both countries.

Over the past 20 years, the Kingdom of Morocco has undertaken various reforms that turned the country into one of the largest economies on the African continent. Over that period, Morocco’s GDP has grown at an average rate of more than 4% per annum. Moreover, the country has implemented several sectoral strategies in agriculture, manufacturing industry (automotive, aerospace, etc.), renewable energy and financial services that have enabled the diversification of the economy.

The measures taken to improve the business environment have translated to Morocco moving up 75 spots in the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking in the last 10 years. Today, Morocco is the 53rd country in the world and 3rd in Africa in the ranking.

Morocco has played a critical role in the economic emergence of Africa. It is the number-one intracontinental investor in West Africa and second on the continent overall. Moroccan companies have a foothold in more than 40 African countries across financial services (banking and insurance), telecommunications, agriculture and agribusiness, air transport, manufacturing industry and construction. With Tanger Med being the largest container port in Africa and Casablanca Finance City being the premier financial centre on the continent, Morocco is the gateway to Africa.
