The Myanmar Investment Law (MIL), which was passed on October 18, 2016, consolidates the Myanmar Foreign Investment Law and the Myanmar Citizens Investment Law into one overarching law, placing Myanmar citizen investors and foreign investors on the same footing. This long-awaited legislation aims to promote foreign investment in Myanmar. Following the enactment of the MIL, the implementing Myanmar Investment Rules (the MIL Rules) were issued on March 30, 2017.
Combined, the MIL, MIL Rules and subsequent notifications introduce significant changes affecting business activities and foreign investment in Myanmar. Therefore, we are pleased to invite you to our seminar Golden Land, Golden Opportunities – The Dawn of the New Investment Law, which will be held on Tuesday June 27, 2017 at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel.
During the seminar, Ms Cheah Swee Gim, Director of Kelvin Chia Yangon Ltd (KCY), and Mr Pedro Jose Fausto Bernardo, principal foreign consulting attorney at KCY will be presenting. Arrangements have also been made for U Aung Naing Oo, director general of DICA, to lead a two-hour session by way of dialogue with the Commission Office.
