Ghana | Economy

Podcast

The OBG editorial manager for Ghana, Rik Moors, recently conducted an interview with Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which will feature in the upcoming edition of The Report Ghana 2020.

In the interview, Dr. Bawumia discusses the importance of fostering a business-friendly environment by rebuilding confidence in the Ghanaian economy. The Vice-President highlights steps taken to reduce the government budget deficit while easing the tax burden on the private sector. As he explains in the podcast below, macroeconomic stability has been key to maintaining high levels of economic growth and continued inward investment.

The Vice-President also emphasised the importance of 'inclusive transformation' whereby the human capital of the country is developed through a number of initiatives, prime among them the 'Free Senior High School' programme.

Known in Ghana as a 'Digital Leader', Vice-President Bawumia has spearheaded a number of innovative programmes harnessing ICT for development. Mobile money interoperability is one such innovation where Ghana is pioneering a service that will drive financial inclusion and help fight corruption.
