Home to 60% of the world’s arable land, Africa has the potential to meet not only its own food needs, but also those of the rest of the world. Agriculture remains one of the most important economic sectors for the continent, employing the majority of the population and accounting for 14% of GDP in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Agriculture in Africa 2021: Focus Report outlines the region’s export potential and food security challenges, and explores how the creation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and increasing modernisation of agricultural processes, are generating significant growth opportunities across the entire agricultural ecosystem. The report also includes interviews with Mohamed Anouar Jamali, CEO of OCP Africa, and other stakeholders such as the National Agency for Rural Development of Côte d’Ivoire and the Ghana Cocoa Board.
The Agriculture in Africa 2021: Focus Report was produced in partnership with OCP, following the successful launch of Agriculture in Africa 2019: Special Report.
