The African Development Bank’s Africa Investment Forum (AIF), a game changer for financing Africa’s infrastructure development, is scheduled to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 7 to 9, 2018.
Although Africa is brimming with investment opportunities, there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between the capital availableand the continent’s bankable projects. Financing Africa’s development needs will require an estimated $600bn -$700bn per annum. From this, approximately $130bn – $170bn is needed annually for infrastructure, according to the African Development Bank’s African Economic Outlook 2018.
The bank is working with other multi-lateral development partners and stakeholders to ensure that the Africa Investment Forum becomes Africa’s key springboard for investment and for meeting the continent’s huge infrastructure and development needs.
An innovative investment marketplace, the Africa Investment Forum will bring together project sponsors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, private investors, policy makers, private equity firms and heads of government to raise capital for advancing Africa’s economic transformation agenda. It will be 100% transaction-based and will focus on structuring deals, screening and enhancing projects, attracting co-investors and facilitating transactions to unlock Africa’s multi-billion-dollar investment opportunities.
