Indonesia has 40% of the world’s potential geothermal resources, a total of 276 potential areas have been identified more than 29,038 Mwe and the the government has set aside funds for investment in 9,500 MW of geothermal plants by 2025.

The government has set aside funds for investment in 9,500 MW of geothermal plants by 2025, but 85% of Indonesia’s geothermal resources remain untapped due to unclear, stable and uncoordinated energy policy, reducing attractiveness to foreign investment.

As the Government is in the process to remove the barriers that may include amendment of geothermal and forest conservation law, provision of expanded guarantees to geothermal project developers and full protection of developers during exploration and construction phases, we want to meet together to get the ball rolling at the World Geothermal Energy Summit 2012.
