The number of mosques in the UAE was estimated to reach 5251 by 2015 with more than 200 new mosques currently under construction and the request pending for more mosques to cater to Muslim expatriates. Currently, Al Ain has the highest number of mosques at 1069, followed by 935 mosques located in the eastern region, and 903 in Ras Al Khaimah. The event will be held May 9-10, 2016.

In Dubai, 77 mosques are under construction with 45 mosques are under study. In addition, there is the opportunity to refurbish up to 5000 mosques across the UAE to achieve energy efficiency.

The objectives of the conference are the following: 

  • Understanding how to adhere the UAE-nationwide strategy to make all mosques eco-friendly and compliant to the latest green standards;
  • Exploring the challenges and opportunities in designing, constructing, furnishing and refurbishing mosques to achieve aesthetic, energy and water efficiency goals;
  • Hearing from the leading regional architectures, interior designers and technology providers.
