IFAM 2015 is an international gathering of institutional investors and practitioners who place a premium on Shariah-compliant and ethical investments that yield alpha.
The conference aims to be a platform where investors and issuers deliberate on real issues, trends, actionable opportunities and strategies in the face of difficult market challenges.
The themes of the conference this year will centre around Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) and Alpha Returns. It will also look into a mega trend in the making - the shift being made by institutional and sovereign-linked investors - to Shariah-compliant and ethical assets.
Our Guest-of-Honour is Dr Shaikha Al Maskari, the chairperson of a global family office Al Maskari Holding based in Abu Dhabi. Dr Shaikha controls a diverse group of businesses including Johnson Controls which last year raked in a revenue of USD 42bn. Her businesses span diverse sectors including oil and gas, renewable energy and Shariah-compliant finance.
Other heavyweight speakers include Aberdeen Islamic Asset Management, Maybank Islamic Asset Management, Arabesque Asset Management (UK) and Macquarie Bank.
Delegates this year include Bank of Singapore, AlBukhary Foundation and AEP-IM.
We are also expecting more dignitaries. Last year IFAM was attended by dignitaries and diplomatic representatives from Kuwait, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
