Coming to its 17th edition this year, IFRA is a collaborative by the Indonesian Franchise Association (AFI) and Dyandra Promosindo. Taking the theme of “Connect Your Business to the Global Franchise Market”, this event is expected to facilitate and encourage franchisees to be able to compete in the global market. Last year, IFRA 2018 successfully presented 189 exhibitors, attracted the attendance of 16,322 visitors from 19 countries, and concluded with transaction value of IDR 675 billion.
“In this moment franchise competition is quite competivie since the we got competitior from foreign franchise products, while the local franchises growth are stagnant. Through IFRA, we invite the society and business owners to invest and participate in the franchise business to boost the country’s economy. We also encourage franchisees to develop their businesses in order to compete in the global market,” said Anang Sukandar, Honorary Chairman of AFI.
IFRA 2019 presents a forum to bring together the franchisor or licensor with prospective franchisees to convert their ideas and concepts into a concrete businesses. During the three days of exhibition, there are 250 companies and 350 brands from various categories such as automotive, cafe, food and beverage, restaurant, beauty, consultant, entertainment, and more will participate in IFRA 2019.
Concurrently, IFRA 2019 will also present international franchise conferences, business matching, business presentations, celebpreneur talk shows, and other interesting events that attract both local and international professionals and business owners to share experiences in managing franchise businesses.
IFRA 2019 is supported by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia. Additionally, the event is also supported and partnered with international franchise associations, such as the Malaysia Franchise Association (MFA), Association of Chain Franchise Promotion Taiwan (ACFPT), Korea Franchise Association (KFA), Hongkong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Franchising and Licensing Association, Singapore (FLASIA), dan Philippine Franchise Association (PFA).
Business competition for students
Leading to IFRA 2019, the organizer has arranged for a pre-event series to encourage participation and development of the young, bright business minds through IFRAPreneur Business Concept Competition (IFBCC) which is going to its 4th year in 2019. IFBCC is a business idea strategy competition for undergraduate students, where they can present their ideas which in turn can be converted into real business. The IFBCC series has visited 11 universities in Jakarta : STIAMI Institute, University of Indonesia, IPMI, Bina Nusantara University, IPMI International Business School, PPM School of Management, Paramadina University, STIE International Tourism, Academy of Indonesian Students, STMI Polytechnic, and the Prasetiya Mulya University.
IFBCC activities present competent speakers in the franchising and business industry such as Rofian Akbar as General Director of Franchise Indonesia Magazine, Pietra Sarosa as Managing Director of Sarosa Consulting Group and Commissioner of the Indonesian Franchise Association Certification and Accreditation Division, Bije Widjajanto as Senior Consultant, Founder and CEO Ben WarG Consulting, and Djoko Kurniawan as Senior Business Consultant. IFBCC is expected to motivate the youths to be entrepreneurs. Eventually, ideas when turned into concrete business will help the company to create opportunities and contributes to the local economy.
