Risk Management has emerged as an inseparable and inherent part of the contemporary financial world. The evolution of risk management as an integral part of modern knowledge stems from the fact that risk is often very costly. With the world just recovering from the brink of a global financial crisis, hopes are levied upon the Islamic financial system with its proclaimed inherent stability. During the last 30 years, Islamic banking and finance has contributed significantly to the development of financial sectors and deepening offinancial markets in several countries thus contributing to economic development. As Islamic banking and finance is expanding worldwide. its systemic importance for the stability of national, regional and global financial system is also increasing fast. Since Islamic banking makes financial services relevant for a wide population segment, the combination of the premise of Islamic finance with the implementation of internationally accepted standards of best practices, is expected to enhance wider access to more efficient and stable financial services. Against this background, it is important that the Islamic financial industry develop a framework for risk mitigation with Shariah-compliant instruments.
The Center for Economics and Business (PEBS) Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia (FEUI) and the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) – a member of the Islamic Development Bank (lDB) Group – in collaboration with Bank of Indonesia (BI) are pleased to announce the third International Conference on Risk Management, Regulation, and Supervision.
