The significance of Sri Lanka’s maritime location and as a gateway destination to Asia is seen by many major industry players and are now focusing on relocating logistic and shipping to the Indian Ocean island where great opportunities are available to speedily connect consumers across many continents, including Asia and Africa. Sri Lanka is considered as the best location in South Asia with modern infrastructure, customs and human capital availability at a low cost. The country offers many opportunities for investors to set up office for regional business.
The CIMC was launched in 2015 as the first marketing and awareness project of Sri Lanka from the industry. The first-ever CIMC was considered as one of the best in Asia by the 500 delegates and speakers who attended in 2015. Given opportunities in the Indian subcontinent for cost effective shipping and logistics, the CIMC 2016 will be held during “Sri Lanka Maritime Week”. The event is spearheaded by a private-public partnership under the leadership of the Minister of Ports and Shipping, and a maritime exhibition will be part of the 2016 event.
The Sri Lanka Maritime week will be inaugurated on September 21, 2016 and the CIMC2016 will be launched by the prime minister delivering the keynote speech on September 22, 2016.
International investors and companies involved in shipping and logistics industry, including ancillary services and education are invited to register for the CIMC 2016.
