Third Party Event

23 Nov 2014 - 25 Nov 2014

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is delighted to invite you to the 18th African Securities Exchange Association (ASEA) Conference; scheduled to be held in Diani, Kenya, from 23rd to 25th of November 2014. ASEA brings together twenty three African Securities Exchanges with the aim of discussing and resolving emerging issues in the African Capital Markets.

The Conference will bring together Stock Exchanges and Capital Market players from across the continent, serving as a crucible of dialogue and sharing of ideas on Africa’s quest for a more vibrant Capital Market. This year’s theme “Africa on the Rise: Strengthening the Capital Markets Ecosystem to Fuel Economic Growth.” seeks to promote the broadening of the product and service offering of African Capital Markets to domestic, regional and international investors.

The ASEA Conference provides a platform that encourages delegates to discuss issues of common interest for the development of African stock exchanges and Capital Markets.  It brings together executives from member securities in Africa and executives from the investment community from the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia to reflect on the fundamental role of exchanges in harnessing Africa’s growth potential and identifying initiatives to broaden and deepen African capital markets.

The 18th ASEA Conference will highlight relevant issues relating to African financial markets and global financial trends. This is an important opportunity for players in African Securities Markets to come together, debate and suggest solutions for the issues that characterize the African Securities Markets.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange seeks to host the 2014 ASEA Conference for the following reasons:

  • Showcase the growth of Africa as reflected in the diversity of products being offered by African Exchanges
  • Position African Capital Markets as engines of growth in Africa – financing infrastructure, managing  risk (futures and options) on agricultural, mineral, interest rates, currency prices.

Investor Relations meetings will run alongside the event providing opportunities to engage listed companies, financiers, investors and other players in African capital markets to explore business opportunities and partnerships with companies from all over Africa.

The Conference will also be an opportunity to interact with top business leaders and policy makers from across Africa. It will provide interesting insights into financial sector deepening, setting up of derivatives markets, technology use in the capital markets, and infrastructure funding through the capital markets.
