This publication was initiated by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), and produced in cooperation with Oxford Business Group, to shed light on the potential for Bahraini businesses to expand globally. The BCCI supports the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, as well as the wider business community, by providing information on investment opportunities and guidance on how to expand into new markets.
The BCCI’s comprehensive support for its members helps Bahraini businesses carve out a name for themselves on the regional and global stage, and forms part of the country’s sustained and internationally recognised efforts to improve its business environment. In the World Bank’s 2020 ease of doing business index, Bahrain increased its ranking from 63rd to 42nd out of 190 economies. This placed the kingdom ahead of other GCC member states, including Saudi Arabia (62nd), Oman (68th) and Kuwait (83rd), and highlights Bahrain as an increasingly attractive destination for investment.
Looking ahead, the country’s liberal, diverse and enabling business environment should continue to attract investment, and support the expansion of local enterprises and industry. As it shepherds the development of the private sector in Bahrain, the BCCI will continue to play a leading role in shaping the future of the national economy, as it has done since its inception in 1993.
