Under the Patronage of H.E Dr. Adib Mayaleh, Governor of Central Bank of Syria, the openning session of the '5th Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions Conference was opened on 15th, March 2010 at Four Seasons Hotel - Damascus.
22 Arab and foreign countries participated in the conference(Britain, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, France, Cyprus, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Djibouti, Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, in addition to Syria)
More than 800 participants attended the conference, among them were chairmen, executive managers of Islamic banks and financial institutions, and people from legislative, governmental, academic, political, diplomatic bodies. As well as businessmen, investors, industrials, merchants, experts in financial and economic sector and also members from the Governing Council and Chamber of commerce & industry & tourism.
The conference aims at highlighting the performance of Islamic banking industry and identifying success factors in the global market, discussing and studying ways to create suitable environment for more expansion and growth of Islamic banking activity. The Conference is a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with Islamic banking specialists and to listen to various viewpoints concerning the most important Islamic financing issues at present.
An exhibition will accompany the Conference, where many local and international players will perform their latest services, technologies, equipment and relevant software on Islamic banks, Takaful insurance, investment funds, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic financing and leasing firms, consultancy councils and agencies, banking systems and equipment and training centers.
