Dear Oxford Business Group Subscribers,
SAVE THE NEW DATE – 15 & 16 OCTOBER, 2012
The Qatari Business Women Association in collaboration with Interactive Business Network (IBN) is organising, for the third year in a row, Qatar International Businesswomen Forum on 15 & 16 Oct, 2012 at The St. Regis Hotel, Doha - Qatar.
After the success of its first two editions held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science & Community Development in 2010 and 2011, the Qatar International Businesswomen Forum has rapidly gained a unique status as a major annual event in Qatar and the region in terms of volume and level of attendance, the relevance and penetrating nature of the agenda’s topics and debates, the quality and expertise of panelists and speakers, and impeccable organization. The aim for the third edition in 2012 is to live up to this reputation and to reinforce it further.
The political upheavals that have been sweeping the Arab world since the beginning of 2011 will continue to impact the course of economic and social developments in the region for many years to come, one of the key questions is whether this process of change underway will boost the political and economic role of women in the region. Specifically, will Arab businesswomen be able to strengthen their leadership and executive positions in this environment of change and uncertainty.
The Third Qatar International Businesswomen Forum will engage in a discussion on these and many other topics of the hour, particularly through the informed opinions of a number of leading experts and activists from the Arab world and other countries. As in its first two editions, the forum is also expected to attract wide participation from senior government officials, business leaders, financiers, economists, specialists, as well as representatives of civil society, NGOs, and women leaders in business and other professions and activities.
The main topics on the Forum’s agenda include:
- Perspectives on the “post-revolutions” of the Arab economy.
- Challenges facing businesswomen in the transitional period.
- Risk-reward scenarios for women entrepreneurs within prevailing cultural constraints.
- Women Engineers
- Businesswomen and corporate social responsibility.
- Investment and asset management strategies under conditions of uncertainty.
- NGOs and the empowerment of women: the record so far.
- Workshops on corporate governance in Arab companies, branding and other topics.
