Since the drop in commodity prices in 2014, Colombia’s economy has been recovering and is set to expand in 2019 and 2020. In May 2018 Colombia was invited to become the 37th member of the OECD, a positive development that should increase the country’s international political and economic prominence in the coming decades. However, challenges to ensuring Colombia’s continued economic progress remain.

Colombia busca impulsar la confianza y la actividad de los inversionistas en el sector minero mediante la definición de planes de gobierno para reformar el proceso de consulta comunitaria existente, el cual suscita una cierta incertidumbre en el plano legal,  sobre todo en lo concerniente a la adjudicación de proyectos.

A pesar de la caída en la actividad de algunas áreas en lo que va de año, el sector automotriz de Colombia puede estar listo para repuntar en el nuevo año, con una baja en las tasas para préstamos, mejores condiciones económicas y nuevos acuerdos comerciales con socios regionales, que se espera faciliten un crecimiento renovado.
